He moved to Florida in 1959. In the interview, he discussed the horseshoe trade; tools used; types of shoes; special shoes for polo; learning blacksmithing and horseshoeing; moving to Florida; the biology of horse hooves; riding horses; and shaping the shoe.

Duvall, who owned Percheron horse (improted from France), was trained by Amish farmers in Ohio (who also use Percheron horses) on traditional horse training and farmwork techniques. In the interview, Duvall discusses the horses (traits, uses of, and qualities), harnessing techniques, training, driving, and wagons. The interview was created as fieldwork for the 1993 Rural Folklfie Days, in which Duvall participated as a demonstrator.

- Two audio cassettes. Interview with hunter and deer hunting dog breeder Buddy Beck. On the side, he also plays bluegrass music on the mandolin with the Trivette family. Born in Live Oak, he discusses family history; raising dogs; hunting; mandolins; the Trivette family; and bluegrass music. In winter 1985, the Bureau contracted with two folklorists to conduct a folk arts survey of the St. Johns River basin in northeastern Florida. The St. Johns River is the largest and most used river in Florida, supporting much river commerce as well as a modest amount of commercial fishing. Folklorists Mary Anne McDonald and Kathleen Figgen conducted the survey from January through March 1985 under the direction of Folklife Coordinator Blanton Owen and Bureau Chief Ormond Loomis. Documentation compiled in the survey was used to prepare and present the 'St. Johns River Basin Folklife Area' at the 1985 Florida Folk Festival.

A Texas native, he learned to horseshoe in the U.S. Army in 1952, and moved to Florida after his discharge to take a 3-year farrier apprenticeship. He discusses methods of horseshoer; why horseshoe; the process; tools used; foundering; why Florida's envrionment is tough for horses; the farrier trade; and certification of the trade.
