Description
One proof sheet with 20 black and white images (plus negatives). Images of a three-person television crew from WCTV-TV (CBS affiliate in Tallahassee) who filmed an interview with Goodvine, at his Lake City home: 1334 Texas Street. Goodvine was a former turpentine workers, and worked with mules all his life. He learned to make whips in 1914 from his cousin. He sold them from $15 to $30. The Folk Arts in Schools Project in Columbia and Hamilton County was a joint venture between the county school systems and the Florida Folklife Program. The project consisted of field research to identify local traditions and folk artists, and in-school programs conducted by a folklorist and traditionalist, which included visits by local folk artists.

Thirty-six black and white prints, plus negatives. Images of the Blessing of the Fleet, including images of WUFT-TV staff Saperstein and Williams filming the proceedings. Activities included a religious processional, a parade of boats, and spectators at the docks. Footage was used for the shrimping folklife documentary, Fishing All My Days.

Description
Two proof sheets with 36 black and white images. Images of participants recording music at the St Luke Freewill Baptist Church in White Springs, including operating video and audio equipment, as well as at the Stephen Foster Center learning fieldwork skills. Participants included employees and volunteers from: Association to Preserve African American Society History (Orlando); Blacks Archives (FAMU); and the Black Historical Preservation Society (West Palm Beach). In January 1995, the Florida Folklife Program held a workshop to instruct local citizens how to document their community's folk traditions. The workshop's theme was African American Heritage Documentation. Paperwork for the workshop can be found in S 1679, folder 6. Videotapes produced by workshop participants can be found in folder 8; audiotapes in folder 9.
