One color slide. WUFT-TV (channel 5) was a Public Broadcast System (PBS) affiliate based at the University of Florida in Gainesville. They often filmed festival performances over the years. Several of their videos are avaiable as part of S 1576.

Description
Two proof sheets with 36 black and white images. Images of participants recording music at the St Luke Freewill Baptist Church in White Springs, including operating video and audio equipment, as well as at the Stephen Foster Center learning fieldwork skills. Participants included employees and volunteers from: Association to Preserve African American Society History (Orlando); Blacks Archives (FAMU); and the Black Historical Preservation Society (West Palm Beach). In January 1995, the Florida Folklife Program held a workshop to instruct local citizens how to document their community's folk traditions. The workshop's theme was African American Heritage Documentation. Paperwork for the workshop can be found in S 1679, folder 6. Videotapes produced by workshop participants can be found in folder 8; audiotapes in folder 9.

One video recording (35 minutes, VHS). Memorial Service for singer-songwriter Will McLean, held at the Thomas Center in Gainesville. Includes eulogies and memories by Florida Folk Festival director Thelma, Boltin,singer-songwriter Don Grooms, an emotional Seminole chairman and singer James (Jim) Billie, singer-protégé Gamble Rogers, Barbara Sheen Todd, singer-environmental activist Dale Crider, and Cherill Heaton. Plus performances McLean's songs by Jeanie Fitchen (on autoharp), Dougs Gauss, Wayne Martin, Frank Thomas, Don Grooms, Dennis Devine, Mary Ann Dinella, Sandra Jamieson, Ernie Williams, and Barbara Sheen Todd (who sings his first song). These are interspersed with scenes from a 1982 PBS special on McLean, and concludes with audio from McLean's last performance (St. Augustine, October 29, 1989). Many other folk artists are visible in the audience, including Bobby Hicks. Produced by Margaret Longhill and Philip Schwartz for the McLean Foundation. Singer-songwriter Will McLean was often called the 'Father of Florida Folk.' The Black Hat Troubadour, a nickname given for the hat he usually wore, authored hundreds of songs, and was a national figure on the folk music scene. A fifth generation Floridian, he died in 1990 from cancer.

Four video recordings (3/4 tape; approx. one hour each) Video of the Golden Gospel concert, a FFP-sponsored series of concerts that provided a musical history of African American religious music. The concerts, presented as a church service, featured several gospel music groups from Florida and elsewhere: Ponder Singers (Jax.); Cisrow Gospel Allstars (Millville, NJ); Washington Singers (Cocoa); Goldenaires and the Spiritualettes (Orlando); Master Keys and the Dixie Hummingbirds (Philadelphia, PA); and the Dixie Jubilees (Jax). The program provided an opportunity for master folk artists to share technical skills and cultural knowledge with apprentices in order to keep the tradition alive. Apprentices must have had some experience in the tradition and agreed to train for at least six months. The first project director was Blanton Owen, later replaced by folklorist Peter Roller, and then Robert Stone. The program was continued each year through 2004.
