She starts a Seneca Indian story called "How Stories Came Into the World." The tape cuts off and resumes as she's telling a story about how butterflies got their name. She then tells a story called "The City Mouse and the Country Mouse," followed by an African folk tale called "Rabbit and Hyena Play" while accompanying herself on kalimba, an African thumb piano. Smith tells a story about Epaminondas and his grandmother. Durden, a teacher at Hogan-Spring Glen Elementary School in Jacksonville, tells a story about Tippery the Hungry Leprechaun and the origin of potatoes in Ireland. Smith then told another story.
