Cathedral Basilica (including Father Camp statue)

Description: Seven color slides. The Cathedral Basilica is the nation's oldest parish (dating back to 1565). The present cathedral was built in 1797 out of native coquina stone. Henry Flagler later donated the cathedral's steeple. Father Camp led the Minorcans on the long walk from Andrew Turnbull's plantation in New Smyrna in the 1770s (where they worked under slave-like conditions) to St. Augustine. Today's Minorcans are the descendents of those migrants.

Description: Thirteen color slides. Graves date from the 1800s. Located between Lake City and White Springs on Rt. 131. The Folk Arts in Schools Project in Columbia and Hamilton County was a joint venture between the county school systems and the Florida Folklife Program. The project consisted of field research to identify local traditions and folk artists, and in-school programs conducted by a folklorist and traditionalist, which included visits by local folk artists.

Description: Seventeen black and white prints (plus negatives). Images of a cemetery adjacent to the New Mt. Zion Church in Northwest Columbia County (near intersection of Suwannee Valley Road and Highway 41). Many of the grave markers are home-made. Florida Memory is a digital outreach program providing free online access to select archival records from collections housed in the State Library and Archives of Florida. Florida Memory digitizes materials that illuminate the state's history and culture.

Florida Memory is funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida's LSTA program is administered by the Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services.

For FY2022-23, the percentage of total costs for the Florida Memory program financed with federal money is 66%; the federal dollar amount to be spent on the program is $646,422. This program does not receive any non-governmental funding.
