Recipients of the FHA in 1992 were Washboard Bill Cooke; Jean and Bill Hewitt (leaders of the Friends of Florida Folk); fiddler Julian "Goose" Culbreath; gospel singing group The Versiteers; Dr. Lydia Cabrera; and Charlie Lewis. Folklorists Milner and Loomis spoke on the awards and the recipients.

Description: Twenty-nine color slides. The fest, sponsored by the Florida Storyteller's Guild, was held 29-30 April 1994. This was the first year the fest was held. Fifteen storytellers participated, and told scary stories, jokes, tall tales, and children stories.

Description: One black and white print. Lem Griffis was a story teller from Fargo, Georgia. He grew up in the Okeefenokee Swamp, and his stories were considered typical of North Florida/South Georgia.

Description: One audio cassette. Known as Colonel Bill Myers, he auctions off antiques in the recording at Pioneer Auctions Company on Southside Blvd. in Jacksonville. The Folk Arts in Education Project in Duval County was a joint venture between the Duval County School System and the Florida Folklife Program. It began in 1984 by folklorist David Taylor with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts to add to existing social studies curriculum. The project consisted of field research to identify local traditions and folk artists, a series of five two-day seminars to acquaint teachers with the use of folklore and folk arts, and in-school programs conducted by a folklorist and traditionalist, which included visits by local folk artists. Taylor ran it until 1986. In 1988, Gregory Hansen re-initiated it with minor changes.

Florida Memory is funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida's LSTA program is administered by the Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services.

For FY2021-22, the percentage of total costs for the Florida Memory program financed with federal money is 66%; the federal dollar amount to be spent on the program is $561,960. This program does not receive any non-governmental funding.
