One proof sheet with thirty-six black and white images. Images of Wakulla Springs, a popular tourist attraction located just south of Tallahassee that offered boat tours and lodging. One of the features on the tours was Henry the Fish, a bass fish that would appear to jump over a pole when called. In 1986, the site became a state park. One video recording (VHS; 40 minutes) Created by the Northeast Florida Institute for Science, Mathematics and Computers of University of North Florida, and the Florida Community College of Jacksonville, the documentary traces the natural and cultural history of the Suwannee River from its source in the Okeefenokee Swamp to the Gulf of Mexico. Funded through a grant by the Florida Dept. of Education, topics include the relationship between the river, local springs, and the aquifer, as well as human activities along its banks including the Florida Folk Festival, the Battle of Olustee, Stephen Foster, and phosphate mining. Includes footage of Fitchen, Makley, and Slavin performing at the Florida Folk Festival. Also includes much discussion of the natural features and wildlife of the river. It was narrated by Bill Massie, with music by Landon Walker. The video was produced, directed, and co-written by Dr. Ray Bowman.
