Description
Seventeen color slides. Rattlesnake round-ups are when a community gathers/hunts rattlesnakes in the local woods to 'clean up' the area. By the 1990s, the San Antonio Round-up, held each October, evolved into the San Antonio Rattlesnake Festival, focusing on environmental education and festival activities. Images are of gopher tortoise races; milking rattlesnakes; bluegrass bands; and crafts booths. Slides S77-23 and S77-35 are missing.

The tape includes performances by Harry Binder and the Virginia Pardners, an interview with festival organizer Eddy Herman, sounds from the gopher races, and a rattlesnake show by Seabold of Panama City's Snake-a-torium. Rattlesnake round-ups are when a community gathers/hunts rattlesnakes in the local woods to 'clean up' the area.
