The Florida Folk Arts Survey was conducted in 1987 by folklorists Tina Bucuvalis, Steve Frangos, Merri Belland, and Barbara Seitz as preliminary research for a joint folk arts project between the Florida Folklife Program and the Florida Museum of History. The field researchers focused on those areas previously overlooked by FFP staff. The research focused on identifying folk artists and locating appropriate exhibit objects.

One audio cassette. Born in Pennsylvania, and at the time a waitress, Hoffman discusses her role in organizing a peace quilt to be presented to Jacksonville's then sister city: Murmansk, Russia. The quilt was created for the Coalition for Peace with Justice. She disccusses organizing the event; finding quilters; the process of making the quilt: 26 quilt patches created separately, then sewn together; discussions of the indivdual patches: the patterns and quilters/creators; and plans for the quilt.

One audio cassette. Sessions, a quilter, was born in Winston County, Alabama, and was eighty-two years old at the time of the interview. In the interview, she discusses coming to Winter Garden, Florida, in the 1920s; learning to quilt from her mother; the tools and methods used in quilting; and quilting patterns such as "rail fence", "trip around the world", "butterfly," "girl with umbrella" and others. In addition, she describes growing up on a farm and planting crops by signs and omens.
