Two reel to reels. Interview begins on T83-142. Luke Smith drove boats at Wakulla Springs (a tourist attraction located near Tallahassee) from the 1920s through the early 1980s. In the interview, he discusses creating boat tours, his family history, how he learned the tours and taught others, the history of the attraction, and Rainbow Springs boat driver Skipper Lockett.

Description
Twenty color slides. Ranger-Brown reciting her poems about rural life in Jamaica. Never written down, the poems demonstrate Jamaican dialects and culture. She had performed on television with comedian Jerry Lewis, and was awarded a medal by Jamaica's prime minister for contributions to Jamaican culture in 1984. The Dade Folk Arts Survey was conducted in 1986 by folklorists Tina Bucuvalas, Nancy Nusz and Laurie Sommers in order to identify folk arts and folk artists for the special folklife area at the 34th Annual Florida Folk Festival. The traditions are mainly Haitian, Jamaican, Mexican, Bahamian, Cuban and Jewish and cover a wide range of skills and art forms.

One audio cassette. Recording of Skipper Lockett performing his popular Rainbow Springs boat tour on the main stage of the Florida Folk Festival. Lockett was a long-time boat driver at the springs (today a Florida State Park), and gave his rhyming tour -- during which he explains the springs and names all of its fishes -- at several festivals in the 1950s and 1960s. The original recording from which this cassette was made is T77-83: Recording of the Saturday Morning Program at the 1959 Florida Folk Festival.
