Description
One video cassette (Sony Video 8). For still images of the concert, see S 1626, box 1. The Sunday Folk Music in the Park concert series were held between September and February each year from 1991 through 1993 in the amphitheater at the Stephen Foster State Folk Culture Center (Stephen Foster Center). Each concert showcased a different mucial style: gospel, bluegrass, Florida folk, and Irish music among others. The series was arranged and promoted by the Florida Folklife Program.

Description
One proof sheet with 18 black and white images (plus negatives). Award ceremony for blues singer Mary McClain. Known as Diamond Teeth Mary for the jewels she placed in her teeth in the 1940s, Mary was born in West Virginia, and always claimed to be the half sister of fellow blues singer Bessie Smith. In 1918, she moved to Florida's Gulf Coast. During her later years, she lived in Bradenton, Florida. Although McClain was a popular performer in the 1920s and 1930s, she stopped performing the blues for many years. She was rediscovered by the Florida Folklife Program in the 1980s. In 1986, she won the Florida Folk Heritage Award in 1986. She died on 4 April 2000.

Description
Four black and white prints. A bluegrass musical group, the Big Bend Folk Band were based at Florida State University in Tallahassee. Dr. John T. Greene, director of the university's marriage counseling service within the School of Social Welfare, led the group. The images were from the 1963 Florida Folk Festival. The folder also contains a letter from Greene to festival director Thelma Boltin. Greene played banjo and sang lead, while John Searcy played bass fiddle. The other musicians were unidentified.

Culled from informants at the Big Bend Folklife Area, demonstrations include pysanky egg decoration, Wakulla Springs boat drivers (Jackson), wood carving (fishing lures by Woodward and Jones), and polka music by the Polka Sweethearts.

Sixty-six black and white images. the Bill Monroe performing at the Florida Folk Festival. Monroe, a mandolin player, was known as the creator of bluegrass style of music. Performing here with his band, the Bluegrass Boys (from which the musical genre's name is derived) Monroe was often referred to as the Father of Bluegrass.
