Description
One audio cassette. A duplicate copy can be found on C80-19. This is an unmixed, pre-master third-generation recording of field recordings conducted between 1978 and 1980 from the Florida Record Project. That project, along with work for the North Florida Folklife Project, resulted in Drop on Down in Florida, an exploration of African American musical traditions in Florida.  Tape is in very poor condition and cannot be reproduced.

Description
This audiocassette tape was composed of selections from field recordings for the North Florida Folklife Project. Some tracks were featured on the Florida Folklife Program's compilation of African American musical traditions throughout Florida, Drop on Down in Florida. The tracks by Murray were copied from T83-62 & T83-63, recorded March 9, 1980. Tracks by Williams were copied from T78-321, recorded April 22, 1978.

Description
Two audiocassettes. Gospel quartet rehearses "Standing Up for Jesus" and "It's Gonna Rain" in a practice session; Wright and Brooks discuss their birthplaces and playing with the Royal Harmony Four, a renowned gospel group, which sang throughout Florida and was headquartered in Jacksonville. They describe how they got involved in music in their youth and some of their favorite songs, like "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "Looka There Ain't She Pretty." On the first part of C83-54, Brooks discusses the group's favorite songs, like "Little Wooden Church on the Hill" and "The Gospel Train," and singing American folk songs and comic songs in church (such as "The Preacher and the Bear") in church performances. He also discusses singing songs about Casey Jones and John Henry and learning to read music later on in his career as a singer.

The Bucksnort Barndance Band consists of I. Bladwin (guitar), B. Baldwin (banjo), and Forbes (fiddle). They accompany the Cross Creek Cloggers, led by David Massey and Susie Rudder, who present a workshop on clogging, buck dancing, and other old-time dance traditions.

The Bucksnort Barndance Band consists of Kemp (fiddle), Forbes (fiddle), I. Baldwin (guitar), B. Baldwin (guitar), Rogers (banjo), Gillespie (fiddle), and L. Baldwin (fiddle). The performance was a reunion for the group, who discuss the Festival's past and perform old-time string music. Forbes performs "Lafayette" unaccompanied.

Conga leads Roots of Rhythm in playing traditional Afro-Caribbean drum music. Throughout the performance, Conga gives historical and musical context on the different rhythms they play. Dancers from Grupo Folklore Latino join the ensemble on the second rumba.
