Description: One reel to reel recording (27:47 minutes). In 1964, Stephen Foster Memorial Week was celebrated from 1/12 and 1/19. The 13th was the centennial of Foster's death. Evelyn Foster Morneweck was the nearest living relative of Foster (his niece). There is also a 15-minute version. These radio programs were created in the early 1960s by the Stephen Foster Memorial to promote the park and its activities, as well as to educate the public about Stephen Foster and Florida folk music.

Description: Two audio cassette recordings. Sonny Treadway and Willie Eason, interviewed by Bob Stone, discuss sacred steel music and the history of their music. Treadway describes the making of his instrument and his mentor, Bishop Lorenzo Harrison. Stone mentions Eason's ability to make his steel guitar sound like a human voice. They perform several songs -- many of which were unidentified.

Description: One audio cassette recordings. Michael Kernahan, steel drum maker, is interviewed by Laurie Sommers. He discusses the tuning of steel drums, their origin in Trinidad and his teacher, Alan Gervais. He also demonstrates the tones that can be played on the steel drum and describes the process of making and tuning them as well as the history and evolution of the instrument. Michael Phillup discusses his apprenticeship with Kernahan and Kernahan describes how to gauge a drum and talks of his membership in Grammy-nominated band Tripoli. He demonstrates music as well.

Florida Memory is a digital outreach program providing free online access to select archival records from collections housed in the State Library and Archives of Florida. Florida Memory digitizes materials that illuminate the state's history and culture.

Florida Memory is funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida's LSTA program is administered by the Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services.

For FY2024-25, the percentage of total costs for the Florida Memory program financed with federal money is 66%; the federal dollar amount to be spent on the program is $614,955. This program does not receive any non-governmental funding.
