One reel to reel recording. Walker served as emcee. The 1989 awards were dedicated by Secretary of State Smith to Marjorie Rawlings and Zora Neale Hurston. The winners were E. W. Carswell, Nikitas Tsimouris, and Robert Wise. Nikitas' son, Tony (Antonio) accepted for him.

Twenty-five color slides. Based on recommendations from the Florida Folklife Council, the Secretary of State confers Florida Folk Heritage Awards annually. The awards are given to outstanding folk artists and folk culture advocates who have made long-standing contributions to the folk cultural resources of the state. Established in 1985, the program parallels the National Heritage Fellowships. In 1988, Secretary of State Smith presented awards to Stetson Kennedy, Alton Morris, Flora Mae Hunter, and Tom Gaskins. Many of the people in these slides are unidentified.

Fifty-one color slides. Various images, many unidentified, of the Southwest Florida Folklife Area at the 1988 Florida Folk Festival. Includes images of folklorist Peggy Bulger, Secretary of State Jim Smith, folklorist Nancy Nusz, farrier Jim Flaherty, the Southwest Florida Steel Drum Band performing, the Bahia Vista Mennonite Gospel Quartet performing, broom maker Forest Oakes, the Culbreath Family Band, the Bluegrass Country Band, and festival visitors square dancing. Each year at the Florida Folk Festival, the Florida Folklife Program emphasized a particular culture, tradtions, or geographic area.
