Description
One reel to reel recording. NOTE -- The original reel was inadvertently recorded on side 2 first, and then side 1. When digitized for preservation purposes, that sequence order was maintained. The tracks here are listed in the order of the reel recording, not the order as recorded at the festival. Therefore, notations are included as to which side of the reel the tracks are actually from. Detailed information on the performers can be found on the 1960 festival program, located in S 1619, box 1.

Emcee Thelma Boltin introduces Navarro, a Filipino student from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Navarro describes tinikling, a traditional colonial era Philippine dance which involves two people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles on the ground and against each other in coordination with one or more dancers who step over and in between the poles in a manner similar to the tikling bird, a type of rail. Moncall and CastaƱeo beat bamboo while Navarro dances.
