- Sixty-six black and white images. the Bill Monroe performing at the Florida Folk Festival. Monroe, a mandolin player, was known as the creator of bluegrass style of music. Performing here with his band, the Bluegrass Boys (from which the musical genre's name is derived) Monroe was often referred to as the Father of Bluegrass. The Southwest Florida Folk Arts Project was conducted under the direction of Barbara Beauchamp in two phases: 12 November 1987 through 31 January 1988 by Debbie Fant; and in February 1988 by Nancy Nusz. Using a 35mm camera and a Sony tape recorder, and funded through a NEA grant, the two fieldworkers spoke with over fifty informants in Manatee, Sarasota, Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties, resulting in 20 participants chosen for a special SW Florida folklife area at the 36th Annual Florida Folk Festival.

- Eleven color slides. Juan (Bolito) Landa was an actor at Miami's Pro Teatro Cubano, which presents bufo theater productions (Cuban vaudeville/satirical comedies). Bufo theater was often performed in Havana before Fidel Castro came to power. The character Landa played was El Negrito, a trickster figure who worked for Gallego, a Spanish businessman. The Dade Folk Arts Survey was conducted in 1986 by folklorists Tina Bucuvalas, Nancy Nusz and Laurie Sommers in order to identify folk arts and folk artists for the special folklife area at the 34th Annual Florida Folk Festival. The traditions are mainly Haitian, Jamaican, Mexican, Bahamian, Cuban and Jewish and cover a wide range of skills and art forms.
