Description
One digital audio tape (DAT). (Copied onto C94-85/86) Mutima & Fitchen served as emcees. Old Time Friends, of Pinellas Park, consisted of Jan Moores (autoharp), Doug Naumann (bass), Don Moores (guitar), and Jim Kaufman (harmonica). Burr Oak Ensemble was an a capella group from Gainesville. Gardner, Wolf, Callan, and Konzicky were state fiddle contest winners. [For recordings of the 1994 Florida State Fiddlers Competition, see tapes in S 1576, boxes 31 & 32, C94-14 through C94-17.] Augustine & Felix Omeben were Nigerian drummers participating in the Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program.

Wiseman, Spitzer, and Newsom served as the emcees. Several of the storytellers also sang songs. Mutima played the drums and kora during his stories; and Harshbarger used finger puppets to aid hers.

Description
One audio cassette tape. Tozzer served as emcee. Ajamu Mutima, of Gainesville was a storyteller in the African revival tradition, describes instruments from Africa. He tells a story about a country boy who goes to school in the city and one about a talking skull. He discusses drumming and the Kora (which he says he holds in an unorthodox position). He performs two songs. He also plays the finger harp (or thumb piano) and flute. He performs a song he wrote about the Ichetucknee River.
