One video cassette. (3/4" tape) 20 minutes. Video image is dark. Po lambi was used in rural Haitian villages to signal social gatherings, as work songs, and harvesting. Description
One 16mm film. 25 minutes. Sound & silent. (User copy can be found on video V-199 FLDA002) This film contains footage of participants and performers at the 1961 Florida Folk Festival held at the Stephen Foster Memorial in White Springs, Florida. It opens with the artist and Oklahoma Creek Indian Fred Beaver standing on the banks of the Suwannee River, recounting the history of the Seminole Indians and the origin of the Suwannee River 's name. Next, four Seminoles sing in the native Seminole language. Through translator Frank Shore, Seminole Billy Tiger explains how he uses a medicine branch to cure the mentally ill. Jessie DeVane of Lake Placid talks with Seminole Chief Billy Bowlegs III about his adventures hunting bear, deer and turkey. Nancy, Mary Jane and Molly Shore, daughters of Seminole Frank Shore, sing "Jesus Loves Me" in their native language. A group of young men from Tarpon Springs dressed in traditional Greek attire dance. Whip-crackers Curly Dekle and Claude Sheppard demonstrate tricks. There are additional shots of visitors touring the park. The film ends with a choir dressed in period costumes singing. Produced by Peter Elgar Productions.

Filmed by Florida Public television (through a Florida Dept. of Education grant), the episode features performances, demonstrations, interviews, and presentations at the 1991 Florida Folk Festival (26-28 May). Included are interviews with folklorists, park employees, musicians, artisans, and park attendees, as well examples of the folklife on display at the Festival.

The Folk Arts in Education Project in Duval County was a joint venture between the Duval County School System and the Florida Folklife Program. It was started in 1984 by folklorist David Taylor with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts to add to existing social studies curriculum. The project consisted of field research to identify local traditions and folk artists, a series of five two-day seminars to acquaint teachers with the use of folklore and folk arts, in-school programs conducted by a folklorist and traditionalist, which included visits by local folk artists. Taylor ran it until 1986. In 1988, Gregory Hansen re-initiated it with minor changes.

One video recording. (VHS; 26 minutes) Just the Way It Was was a cultural group that exhibited Haitian and Jamaican culture, including dance, music, and storytelling. They also had a cable access television program in Miami. This was episode #3 of that series. In it, Louis hosts a selection of Haitian music, dance, and storytelling. Louis told a traditional Haitian tale. The drummers were Kettly and Rosemond Pascal. The dancers were Bien-Aine, A. Louis, Escarmant, Sanneau, Hall, Simon, Polynice, and Labossiere. Fuller and Louis produced the program.

Starts with Jaya Radhakrishnan and her daughter Nila demonstrating traditional dances of India on the main stage. That is followed by Dixon performing two cowboy songs , also on the main stage. The video concludes with footage of the bell tower, the Stephen Foster Museum, and the crowds. Audio recording of Jaya and Nila can be found on reels T85-111 and T85-112; and Dixon can be found on reel T85-112.
