One audio cassette recordings. Sidney Romine, Linda Lovelady, and Sona Hucko narrate discussion of Czech dance costumes and customs; Beseda Dancers from Masaryktown and Moravian Dancers and costumes. The recording index notes that Sidney Romine is the first of three generations to dance at the Florida Folk Festival - she danced in 1953. Because this was the 40th festival, the Crossroads area was partly devoted to performers who contributed to the festival's past and development.

Jaya and Nila Radhakrishnan give a demonstration of East Indian dance along with an explanation of the music, story (Jaya), and steps (Nila); they perform a composition of Nila's father, C.V. Radhakrishnan, called "Amida Budgeon." Bill Lee and Beth Gill (of the Sarasota Sailor Circus) discuss the circus; Lee focuses on circus traditions and history while Gill discusses the school and work required and relationships with friends and family. Because this was the 40th festival, the Crossroads area was partly devoted to performers who contributed to the festival's past and development.

One cassette tape. NKwanda Jah interviews Vinson, a member of the Gandy Dancers from Birmingham, Ala., who discusses his work on the railroads. Other members of the Gandy Dancers were present and can be heard in the background. Vinson gives some geneaological history before discussing his work for United States Steel beginning in 1947. He explains that most firemen on the railroads are left-handed due to the need to fire left handed. He describes working on bridge gangs across Alabama and Georgia, including a story about encountering a snake while working on one of the bridges. He discusses his life since retirement and working with the Gandy Dancers. Vinson recounts working with white workers on the bridge gangs. He explains the importance of the human element in railway work, and the role of the railroad companies in employing African Americans. He describes greasing his face with Vaseline to keep his skin from peeling.
