- One video cassette. (3/4" tape) 20 minutes. Video image is dark. Po lambi was used in rural Haitian villages to signal social gatherings, as work songs, and harvesting. It is usuaslly played with drums, and is of African origin. For Haitians, it is a symbol of their culture. For an interveiw with Joseph, see S 1576, T86-58 (C86-101).

- One video recording (3/4 tape; 15:07) An early (and incomplete)version of the production -- for final edit, see video FV-112. Documentary about Nikitas Tsimouris, a Greek bagpipe player, and his family. Includes family images, the Epiphany celebration, Tsimouris making and playing the tsabouna (Greek bagpipe), and discussion of Greek life and immigration. A co-production of WEDO-TV and the FFP, it was funded in part by the Florida Endowment for the Humanities. Offenbach narrated. Folklorist Michael wrote and produced, and Yvonne Bryant was assistant producer.

- Five video cassettes. (20 minutes each) (Copy of videos 36, 37, 28 found on FV-15; copies of videos 39 & 40 found on FV-16, S 1615.) The Epiphany of Our Lord is a Christian rite celebrated within the Eastern Orthodox faith. Epiphany is a Greek word meaning to make known, and refers to the visit of the Magi to Christ,thereby making him known to the world. It is the climax of the twelve days of Christmas. Tarpon Springs boasts a large Greek American community. Created for the Every Island Has Its Own Song project. The finished product was a documentary about Nikitas Tsimouris, a Greek bagpipe player, and his family, and the Tarpon Springs Greek community he lived in. A co-production of WEDO-TV and the FFP, it was funded in part by the Florida Endowment for the Humanities. Offenbach narrated. Folklorist Michael researched, wrote and produced, and Yvonne Bryant was assistant producer.

The Folk Arts in Education Project in Duval County was a joint venture between the Duval County School System and the Florida Folklife Program. It was started in 1984 by folklorist David Taylor with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts to add to existing social studies curriculum. The project consisted of field research to identify local traditions and folk artists, a series of five two-day seminars to acquaint teachers with the use of folklore and folk arts, in-school programs conducted by a folklorist and traditionalist, which included visits by local folk artists. Taylor ran it until 1986. In 1988, Gregory Hansen re-initiated it with minor changes.

- One video recording. (VHS; 26 minutes) Just the Way It Was was a cultural group that exhibited Haitian and Jamaican culture, including dance, music, and storytelling. They also had a cable access television program in Miami. This was episode #3 of that series. In it, Louis hosts a selection of Haitian music, dance, and storytelling. Louis told a traditional Haitian tale. The drummers were Kettly and Rosemond Pascal. The dancers were Bien-Aine, A. Louis, Escarmant, Sanneau, Hall, Simon, Polynice, and Labossiere. Fuller and Louis produced the program.

Minorcan Cultural Exchange Tour at University of Florida

- One video cassette (3/4" tape). 10 minutes. Wickamn, a folklorist and a Minorcan American, served as the emcee. The Minorcan Cultural Exchange Tour, which ran from 10/6-13/1983, was created through an agreement between Florida Dept. of State and Minorca to celebrate Florida's two hundred year Minorcan heritage. First brought over as workers for a British plantation in the 1770s, most soon escaped the harsh working conditions and settled in St. Augustine. The tour, organized by Secretary of State George Firestone, the Bureau of Florida Folklife (Bulger, Belland, Loomis), Division of Historical Resources (Jean Lee and Paul Weaver) and the Florida Museum of History (Pat Wickman). The tour, with 140 performers and delegates from Minorca, consisted of a series of public performances and emerged out of the smaller program, the Minorcan Heritage Week held in May 1983. The tour traveled from St. Augustine, to the University of Florida, to EPCOT, to Cypress Gardens, then finally to Miami for departure back to Spain.
