Description
One reel to reel recording. Fitchen served as emcee. Parada and Hernandez apprenticed under drummer Baro in 1990 through the FFP Apprenticeship program. The Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program began in 1983 with a NEA grant of $22,000. The program provided an opportunity for master folk artists to share technical skills and cultural knowledge with apprentices in order to keep the tradition alive. Apprentices must have had some experience in the tradition and agreed to train for at least six months. The first project director was Blanton Owen, later replaced by folklorist Peter Roller. The program was continued each year through 2003.

Description
One audio cassette tape. Ethnomusicologist Martha Ellen Davis serves as emcee. Torres (drums) and his apprentice Yhanez (drums) discuss the origins of Cuban batá drumming and the different types of drums: Okónkolo ("baby" drum), Itótele ("father" drum), and Iyá ("mother" drum). He also describes Santeria and the orishas. They perform with Torres's sons, Aruan and Arelan, and his other apprentice, Font. Alfaro is a featured guest vocalist. The group was based in Miami.

The song titles reference the name of the orisha being sung to and the specific rhythm, or "toque," in parenthesis. The "Oru Seco" opens the batá ceremony as a supplication to the orishas to attend and participate.

One digital audio tape(DAT). The Versiteers, a Jacksonville-based a capella gospel group, consisted of L.V. Starling, Linda Carter, and Myrtle Butler. Tru-Blu Grass consisted of Bill Hendry (fiddle), Jane Roynl (bass), Eddie Knight (guitar), Jack Piccalo (banjo) and Ken Carey (mandolin). The Cortez Gran Old Opry featured Carl Spinks (guitar), JP "Goose" Culbreath (fiddle), Lamar Rogers (guitar), Maxine Jenkins (spoons), and Richard Culbreath (guitar).
