Description
Fifteen color slides. Billie's airboat is painted with an image of Billy Bowlegs. Images were created as fieldwork for the apprenticeship program. The Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program began in 1983 with a NEA grant of $22,000. The program provided an opportunity for master folk artists to share technical skills and cultural knowledge with apprentices in order to keep the tradition alive. Apprentices must have had some experience in the tradition and agreed to train for at least six months. The first project director was Blanton Owen, later replaced by folklorist Peter Roller. The program was continued each year through 2003.

Fourteen color slides. Images of a Mukasuki woman sewing patchwork and making dolls. The images were created for the Florida Folklife Program's Seminole Slide and Tape Project, a program sponsored by the American Express Company in 1982-1983 to create two educational slide/tape programs for use by schools, community groups, and other educational outlets. One program dealt with sweetgrass basket making; the other on traditional Seminole patchwork. Recordings of the finished program tapes can be found in S 1576, Box 10. Teacher guides, program scripts, and documentation of the project can be found in S 1595, Box 1.

Twenty-one color slides. Images of Cypress's chickee, and one slide of a patchwork design (707) at the chickee. The images were created for the Florida Folklife Program's Seminole Slide and Tape Project, a program sponsored by the American Express Company in 1982-1983 to create two educational slide/tape programs for use by schools, community groups, and other educational outlets. The images were created in part for use in an exhibit on Seminole culture at the Museum of Florida History.

Chickees resemble a free-standing, covered porch, made of wood, usually cypress. Similar images can be found in S 1577, v.50, S89-377 - S89-384. The images were created in part for use in an exhibit on Seminole culture at the Museum of Florida History.
