Description
One audio cassette. Keith and Tanenbaum played Scottish bagpipes. The Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program began in 1983 with a NEA grant of $22,000. The program provided an opportunity for master folk artists to share technical skills and cultural knowledge with apprentices in order to keep the tradition alive. Apprentices must have had some experience in the tradition and agreed to train for at least six months. The first project director was Blanton Owen, later replaced by folklorist Peter Roller. The program was continued each year through 2003.

One audio cassette. Kavoukis was funded to learn from Tsimouris six tunes on the tsabauna, as well as how to make the instrument. The tsabouna was a traditional Greek bagpipe made out of a goat's skin. For more information, see S 1644, box 12, folder 4. Description
One audio cassette. Tarpon Springs resident Tsimouris performing four songs at the Florida Folk Festival. He plays the Tsabauna, a Greek musical instrument made out of sheep skin, and is sometimes called a Greek shepherd's bag pipe. His son explains for the audience the instrument and the songs. He also explains that Tsimouris first moved from Greece to Tarpon Springs in 1968. This recording is duplicated in reel T86-124, S 1576.

A co-production of WEDO-TV and the FFP, it was funded in part by the Florida Endowment for the Humanities. Offenbach narrated.
