One compact disc. The two award winners for 2003 were hymn liner Troy Demps (appearing with apprentices Frank Spalding and Eddie Banks) and hula dancer Kauii-healani Mahikoa Brandt. State folklorist Tina Bucuvalis announced the awards. Based on recommendations from the Florida Folklife Council, the Secretary of State confers Florida Folk Heritage Awards annually. The awards are given to outstanding folk artists and folk culture advocates who have made long-standing contributions to the folk cultural resources of the state. Established in 1985, the program parallels the National Heritage Fellowships.

Based on recommendations from the Florida Folklife Council, the Secretary of State confers Florida Folk Heritage Awards annually. The awards are given to outstanding folk artists and folk culture advocates who have made long-standing contributions to the folk cultural resources of the state. Established in 1985, the program parallels the National Heritage Fellowships.

Description
Three audio cassettes. Award ceremony for the gospel group The Versiteers (Starling, Carter, and Barton) at their church, the New St. James AME Church. The ceremony included various gospel gropups, a church service, and an awards presentation by Florida Folk Council member Yvonne Tucker. That year they were given the Florida Folk Heritage Award.

One reel to reel recording. Walker served as emcee. The 1989 awards were dedicated by Secretary of State Smith to Marjorie Rawlings and Zora Neale Hurston. The winners were E. W. Carswell, Nikitas Tsimouris, and Robert Wise. Nikitas' son, Tony (Antonio) accepted for him.

Recipients of the FHA in 1992 were Washboard Bill Cooke; Jean and Bill Hewitt (leaders of the Friends of Florida Folk); fiddler Julian "Goose" Culbreath; gospel singing group The Versiteers; Dr. Lydia Cabrera; and Charlie Lewis. Folklorists Milner and Loomis spoke on the awards and the recipients.

Folklorist Ormond Loomis and David Jumper presented Florida Folk Heritage Awards to Dudley (accepted by Susan Dees), Singleton (accepted by Dean Singleton), Pellicer (accepted by Patricia Danahey), May, and Sanchez. The Florida Folk Heritage Awards were given to significant Florida Folk artists and advocates. Recipients are chosen by the Florida Folklife Council, and given out by the Secretary of State's office.

One reel to reel recording. Presentation of the Florida Folk Heritage Awards. This was the first year that Florida Folk Heritage Award was presented. Winners were Susie Billie, Thelma Boltin, Lucreaty Clark, Lillian Saunders, and E.A. Frog Smith. Loomis, Carswell, and Waterman presented the awards. Bagpiper Hamilton played before the ceremony. There was also a second ceremony held in Tallahassee (see S1664, box 1, folder 5 for images of that Tallahassee ceremony.)
