One digital audio tape (DAT). Matthews, filling for Secretary of State Katherine Harris, was director of the Division of Historic Resources (within which the Florida Folklife Program was located). She announced all winners. The 2000 Heritage awards went to Joseph Kilgore (Dade City cast net maker) and Joe Zeytoonian (of Margate, Fl, oud player). The winners of the State Fiddlers Competition were Brett Watkins, first place; Emma Harbit, second place; and Lee Staley, third place [Junior division]; Denise Peterson, first place; Trent Watkins, second place; and Joshua Headley, third place [Contemporary division); Cathy Agar and Ian Malinowski, first place; Sharon Hartman & Andy Thomas,s econd place; and Debbie Zanders & George Leedham, third place [Twin fiddle); and Sharon Hartman, first place [Rrustic fiddle). Based on recommendations from the Florida Folklife Council, the Secretary of State confers Florida Folk Heritage Awards annually. The awards are given to outstanding folk artists and folk culture advocates who have made long-standing contributions to the folk cultural resources of the state. Established in 1985, the program parallels the National Heritage Fellowships. The Florida State Fiddle Contest was held each year at the Festival on Saturdays (the stages varied from year to year). The winners were announced on the Main Stage that evening.

One digital audio tape (DAT). Milner served as emcee. Hood was president of the Florida State Fiddlers Association. Matthews was the director of the Florida Division of Historical Resources (which housed the Florida Folklife Program). She presented all awards. The Florida State Fiddle Contest was held each year at the Festival on Saturdays (the stages varied from year to year). The winners were allowed to perform on the Main Stage that evening. The winners for 2001 were: Jonathan Hodge (contemporary); Kathy Agar & Ian Malinowksi (twin fiddle); Lloyd Baldwin (rustic); and Puck Pottsberg (junior). Winners of the 2001 Florida Folk Heritage Awards dug-out canoe maker Bobby Henry, Russian iconographer Alexander Jasiukowicz, Irish fiddler James Kelly, traditional Hawaiian artist Henry Ohumukini, fiddler Richard Seaman, and folk singer/songwriter Jeanie Fitchen. Based on recommendations from the Florida Folklife Council, the Secretary of State confers Florida Folk Heritage Awards annually. The awards are given to outstanding folk artists and folk culture advocates who have made long-standing contributions to the folk cultural resources of the state. Established in 1985, the program parallels the National Heritage Fellowships. Johnson was the district bureau chief for the Florida Park Service, District 2. Williams was the director for the Florida Folklife Council.

One reel to reel recording. Presentation of the Florida Folk Heritage Awards. This was the first year that Florida Folk Heritage Award was presented. Winners were Susie Billie, Thelma Boltin, Lucreaty Clark, Lillian Saunders, and E.A. Frog Smith. Loomis, Carswell, and Waterman presented the awards. Bagpiper Hamilton played before the ceremony. There was also a second ceremony held in Tallahassee (see S1664, box 1, folder 5 for images of that Tallahassee ceremony.)

One reel to reel recording. Dudley served as emcee. Murray's performance began on T87-32. Loomis, director of the Florida Folklife Program, made introductory remarks, and then presented the awards along with Ernie Williams and Dr. Waterman. Recipients were jazz pianist Ida Goodson, whip maker Curly Dekle, and folklorist Boggs.

Recipients of the FHA in 1992 were Washboard Bill Cooke; Jean and Bill Hewitt (leaders of the Friends of Florida Folk); fiddler Julian "Goose" Culbreath; gospel singing group The Versiteers; Dr. Lydia Cabrera; and Charlie Lewis. Folklorists Milner and Loomis spoke on the awards and the recipients.

Three audio cassettes. Award ceremony for the gospel group The Versiteers (Starling, Carter, and Barton) at their church, the New St. James AME Church. The ceremony included various gospel gropups, a church service, and an awards presentation by Florida Folk Council member Yvonne Tucker. That year they were given the Florida Folk Heritage Award.
