Recipients of the FHA in 1992 were Washboard Bill Cooke; Jean and Bill Hewitt (leaders of the Friends of Florida Folk); fiddler Julian "Goose" Culbreath; gospel singing group The Versiteers; Dr. Lydia Cabrera; and Charlie Lewis. Folklorists Milner and Loomis spoke on the awards and the recipients.

Established in 1985, the program parallels the National Heritage Fellowships. In 1988, Secretary of State Smith presented awards to Stetson Kennedy, Alton Morris, Flora Mae Hunter, and Tom Gaskins. Many of the people in these slides are unidentified.

- Five proofs with 132 black and white images (plus negatives). This was the first year the award was given out. Held at the Florida State Capitol, Secretary of State George Firestone handed awards out to Boltin, Clark, Billie, Saunders, and Frog Smith. Florida Folklife Program folklorists Bulger and Taylor were also on hand. Other folk artists also were there performing, such as Greek bagpiper Tsimouris.
