One reel to reel recording. Boltin served as emcee. Lee and Peggy Kelly were from Palatka. Dobbs, also of Palatka, performed animal calls. Roth, from Unionville, Pennsylvania, played the dulcimer. This was his first folklife festival. Whatley, of Bell, played old country music.

One reel to reel recording. NOTE -- The original reel was inadvertently recorded on side 2 first, and then side 1. When digitized for preservation purposes, that sequence order was maintained. The tracks here are listed in the order of the reel recording, not the order as recorded at the festival. Therefore, notations are included as to which side of the reel the tracks are actually from. Boltin served as emcee. Detailed information on the performers can be found on the 1959 festival program, located in S 1619, box 1.

The Caney Forkers were from Tennessee. The Dreamlake Ukulele Band was billed as the Cheerful Chirpers. Starker was from Sarasota, and played calypso music.

Description
Seven audio cassettes; seven DAT tapes. This was a two-part recording released by the Florida Folklife Program [as a sequel to the 25th Anniversary of the Florida Folk Festival album] to honor the 40th Anniversary of the Florida Folk Festival. The finished album can be found on tapes 47 and 48 (on cassette) and tapes 36 and 37 (on DAT). The other tapes are various recordings of the Folk Festival from which the album's selection was made. The first 25th Anniversary album - covering the years 1953 through 1980-- can be found in S 1576, reel T83-135.
