- Three reel to reel tapes. (Copied onto C86-135/136/137.) Recorded at Temple Beth Israel. They were a klezmer band which played traditional Jewish songs for weddings and other traditional ceremonies. The Dade Folk Arts Survey was conducted in 1986 by folklorists Tina Bucuvalas, Nancy Nusz and Laurie Sommers in order to identify folk arts and folk artists for the special folklife area at the 34th Annual Florida Folk Festival. The traditions are mainly Haitian, Jamaican, Mexican, Bahamian, Cuban and Jewish and cover a wide range of skills and art forms.

- One reel to reel recording. Discussion of how men from various cultures (Jewish, Haitian, Greek, and Trinidadian) celebrate holidays and special events. Gombos was from Tarpon Springs, Shapiro from Orlando, Cousuillant and Reyes from Miami. Each year at the Florida Folk Festival, the Florida Folklife Program emphasized a particular culture, tradtions, or geographic area. In 1990, they emphasized celebrations of various Florida groups. including Haitians, Trinidadians, Greeks, and Jewish peoples.

- One audio cassette recordings. Side A: Catalina Delgado, a trunk and Mexican paper artist and Eileen Brautman, a Jewish paper artist are interviewed by Laurie Sommers. Delgado discusses paper-cutting techniques and how designs are made. Brautman explains traditional and contemporary calligraphy and paper cutting according to the European tradition. She tells of making stories from the Bible, use of animals and other designs and the making of a Ketubah (Jewish marriage contract). Side B: Sonny Treadway (Deerfield Beach, FL), sacred steel guitarist is interviewed by Laurie Sommers. He discusses sacred steel guitar and gospel music as well as his musical influences such as his father, other family members and church musicians. He plays by ear and has written several original songs.

- Two audio cassettes. Interview with Goldsmith speaking about Ketubah making in his studio. He also talks about growing up in New York, Jewish caligraphy, history Jewish marriage contracts, Jewish art and symbolism, meaning of colors, and materials used in his art. Jewish marriage contract art is known as Ketubah (Katubut/Katabbah/Katubah). Jewish law requires men to give women a marriage contract on their wedding day. A katubah, usually written in Yiddish, guarantees her financial rights upon his death. The contracts are designed with art and motifs of the local Jewish community. - One audio cassette. Born in New York City to German parents, Adler spent most of his life in the US South. He discusses Judaism in the South including his training to be a rabbi; the art of Torah scroll writing; repairing Torah scrolls; Torah origins and interpretations; activities associated with the Sabbath; laws of Kosher; the Jewish community in Jacksonville; Jewish holidays; rites of passage: naming, circumcision, redemption of first born, bar mitzvah; significance of the synagogue; and anti-Semitism. The Folk Arts in Education Project in Duval County was a joint venture between the Duval County School System and the Florida Folklife Program. It was started in 1984 by folklorist David Taylor with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts to add to existing social studies curriculum. The project consisted of field research to identify local traditions and folk artists, a series of five two-day seminars to acquaint teachers with the use of folklore and folk arts, and in-school programs conducted by a folklorist and traditionalist which included visits by local folk artists. Taylor ran it until 1986. In 1988, Gregory Hansen re-initiated it with minor changes.

Jaime Bronsztein and James Kelly discuss their respective musical traditions (klezmer and Irish); how they are played; specific tunes such as the Hava Nagila (Yiddish) and O'Carolan's Concerto (Irish). They also discuss their family backgrounds, careers and George Phillips. They attempt to play an Irish-Israeli version of the Hava Nagila. Because this was the 40th festival, the Crossroads area was partly devoted to performers who contributed to the festival's past and development.
