Description
One reel to reel recording. Ernie Williams served as emcee. The Zheng is a Chinese zither, dating back to the third century BC. Yao was born in Shanghai to a musical family. In 1990 she moved to Florida, and worked with the Florida Folklife Program's apprenticeship program.

Description
Two proof sheets with sixty black and white images (plus negatives). Each year, the Florida Folklife Program invites demonstrators and folk arts to showcase Florida folklife. In 1994, these demonstrators included musicians such as sacred harp singer Albritton, Chinese zheng player Yao, choir from Mt. Pleasant, the Calloway Sister, and the Neighborhood Blues Band; occupational groups such as citrus workers (Trask) and tourism providers (Gatorland); and dancers (the Cracker Taps).

Description
One digital audio tape (DAT). (Copied onto C94-75/76.) Milner served as the emcee. Singer-guitarist Crider sang on Florida environment. He performed with Gabe Valla (guitar), Bob Kogat (mandolin), Tim Higgins (fiddle), and Diane Delage (sign language interpreter). Yao played the zheng (a Chinese zither). Originally from Shanghai, China, she lived in Orlando. The bluegrass band Salt Run, based out of St. Augustine, consisted of David Dowling (bass), Jim Quine (guitar), Tom Mechling (mandolin), Eric Searcy (banjo), Liz Williams (guitar), and Diane Delage (sing language interpreter). Fiddler James Kelly live din Miami Springs. He played with george Phillips (guitar) and Richard Rose (bass/drums). Guitarist Etta Baker, a National Folk heritage Fellow, lived in Morganton, NC. She was a pioneer in the Piedmont style of acoustic guitar playing.

Banks apprenticed under hymn liner Demps; Ragbir taught several apprentices apprenticed Indo-Trinidadian music; and Edge apprenticed under Chinese zheng player Yao. Then Williams took over as emcee.
