- Twelve black & white prints plus negatives.) Images of commercial fisherman Noles trapping, transporting, and cleaning catfish for sale at market. The boat he used was built by Myron Warr. A few slides are duplicates. For an interview with Noles, see S 1714, Box 3, tapes 30-32. In winter 1985, the Bureau joined with two folklorists to conduct a folk arts survey of the St. Johns River basin in northeastern Florida. The St. Johns River is the largest and most used river in Florida, supporting much river commerce as well as a modest amount of commercial fishing. Folklorists Mary Anne McDonald and Kathleen Figgen conducted the survey from January through March 1985 under the direction of Folklife Coordinator Blanton Owen and Bureau Chief Ormond Loomis. Documentation compiled in the survey was used to prepare and present the 'St. Johns River Basin Folklife Area' at the 1985 Florida Folk Festival.

Changes and Continuity in Commercial Fishing workshop: Folklorist Taylor interviewed the fishers about types of commerical fishing (crabbing, mullet, shark, and trout fishing), and changes in the ecology and the industry over time. Noles was from Crescent City, and Corbin was from Steinhatchee. The folklife area in 1987 focused on Maritime folklife, which stemmed from Taylor's work on the 1986 Maritime Heritage Project, and cooperative project between the FFP and the Library of Congress.

- Two reel to reel recordings. The band consisted of Goose Culbreath (fiddle), Lloyd Culbreath (guitar/banjo), and Richard Culbreath (guitar). Traditional Methods of Finding Fish workshop: Folklorist Taylor interviewed the fishers (Buzier of Apalachicola with Singleton of Mayport and Noles of Crescent City) about how they find fish; navigating their boats; their geographical knowledge; and getting lost. The folklife area in 1987 focused on Maritime folklife, which stemmed from Taylor's work on the 1986 Maritime Heritage Project, and cooperative project between the FFP and the Library of Congress.

Because Lerios did not speak English very well (a Greek immigrant from Tarpon Springs), his grandson Toth often spoke for him.
