Seven audio cassettes. Recording of the annual Florida Fiddlers Contest. In the solo awards, the placements were Fred Stoll (fourth), David Forbes (third), Elan Chalford (second), and Willie Jones(first). For the Accompanied category, the placements were Willie Jones (fourth), Clare Davis (third), Tom Staley (second) and Wayne Martin (first). Etheridge, Barasch, and Rtuland were the judges; and Kelly was a guest performer.

This was followed by the State Fiddlers Competition, which was held each year at the Festival on Saturdays (the stages varied from year to year). The winners were allowed to perform on the Main Stage that evening.

Monroe, a mandolin player, was known as the creator of bluegrass style of music with his band, the Bluegrass Boys (where the name for the musical genre derives from.) He was often called the Father of Bluegrass. For images of his performance, see S 1577, box 15, folder 2. His main stage performance continues on D93-12. Description
One digital audio tape (DAT). The Florida State Fiddle Contest was held each year at the Festival on Saturdays (the stages varied from year to year). The winners were allowed to perform on the Main Stage that evening. The winners for the Junior Division (see D93-36) were Martin Johnson (first), Ian Malinsowksi (second) and Aaron Adelson (third); the Rustic Division (also on D93-36) winners were Mike Stapleton (first), Lindsey Smith (second), and Tom Van Truse (third); Contemporary Division (featured on this tape) winners were Cindy Brophy (first), Clair Davis (second) and Ash Reader (third); and the Twin Fiddle Division (also on this tape) winners were Dan Green/Tammy Murray (first), Mary Carahan/Mary Gordon (second), and Allan Hood/John Gerber (third). There were also several fiddling demonstrations held in between the divisions (Bob & Dana Kogut, Bob Murphy, and Amy Cox).

Description
One digital audio tape (DAT). (Copied onto C94-92/93) Congdon served as the emcee. The Shape Note Singer, led by Pat Morse, were from Gainesville. The Crawford Family (Jim, Gretchen, and Alice) of Jacksonville were filling in for the absent Versiteers (A Jacksonville-based gospel singing group). Skeens and Reigh were from Orlando. Patchwork were a five-member female bluegrass/folk string band from Gainesville, led by Cathy DeWitt. The Care Giver choir were based out of White Springs. Peters Road 7 performed an original operetta written by Long John about an Everglades pioneer.
