57 black and white prints. Images are from a folklife conference held at White Springs January 14-15, 1978. Hosted by the Florida Folklife Program at the Stephen Foster Center (SFC), the conference included folklorists and historians from the Library of Congress (LOC), Smithsonian Institute (SI), University of Florida, as well as throughout Florida and the South. The archives also houses a video of the conference -- V-192. Description
One black and white print. Sarah Knott was the festival director for its first two years (1953-1954). She had previously been founder of the National Folk Festival. Storyteller Thelma Boltin replaced her in 1955. Dr. Alton Morris was a nationally recognized folklorist.
