Description
One compact disc. McKenzie and Pfister served as emcees. Blake was a renowned bluegrass and recording session musician. Raised in Sulphur Springs, Georgia, he began his career in the 1950s. By the 1960s, he played in June carter Cash's road band, performed on Johnny Cash's "Orange Blossom Special" and Bob Dylan's "Nashville Skyline" albums. He became well-known for the seminal "Will the Circle be Unbroken" LP, also featuring Doc Watson, Roy Acuff, Vassar Clements, Earl Scruggs, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. More recently, he played on the "O Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack. His wife Nancy was a cellist with folk leanings. They met in the early 1970s when she performed in his opening act. They married in 1975.
