Four audio cassettes. Recording of a story on the 1976 Florida Folk Festival by Jacksonville's public radio station, WJCT-FM 90. Includes an award given to Thelma Boltin, discussion of late festival performer Bob Beers, Scottish songs, explanation of Sacred Harp Singing, stories and songs by Gamble Rogers, interviews with Al Head, Rogers, and Boltin, and various performances from the festival.

Description
One audio cassette recording. Merri McKenzie interviews Makley Family of Jacksonville, FL on their musical tradition of yodeling; first appearance at the Folk Festival in 1972; Makleys perform "Swiss Chalet" and "Sleep, Baby, Sleep". Mrs. Makley discusses the history of yodeling and its presence in cowboy music, particularly "Cattle Song", "Cowboy's Sweetheart" (with "Sailor's Sweetheart" verses). The Makleys consist of Elroyce Howard Makley (or Mrs. Makley - autoharp), Gail Makley Maynard, Ruth Makley Mason, Bettina Makely Johns (guitar), Natalie (Makley) Miniard (age 15), Stephen Makley (age 12), Sarah Johns (age 10). Because this was the 40th festival, the Crossroads area was partly devoted to performers who contributed to the festival's past and development.

One digital audio tape (DAT). (Copied onto C94-73/74.) Milner served as the emcee. Two Hits and a Miss, of St. Cloud, consisted of Robert Hall (banjo), Marge hill (bass) and Buddy bass (fiddle). The Johnson Family Band were from Gainesville, and consisted of John Johnson (guitar/mandolin), Lisa Martin (guitar), Martin Johnson (fiddle), and Bruce Hewland (bass). Guitarist Cainas of Ormond Beach played classical Spanish guitar. The Squirrelly Germs of Dade City consisted of Bill Dudley (guitar), Tim Higgins (fiddle/mandolin), Bob Kogat (mandolin), Kathy Aagar (fiddle), and Dana Kogut (guitar). The Makley Family (Bettina, Natalie, and Elroyce Makley, Ruth Mason, and Gail Maynard) were from Jacksonville. Singer-guitarist Crider sang on Florida environment. He performed with Gabe Valla (guitar), Bob Kogat (mandolin), Tim Higgins (fiddle), and Diane Delage (sign language interpreter).

One digital audio tape (DAT). Storyteller Louis served as emcee. The Homegrown String Band featured Amy Cox (fiddle) Gerry Cox (guitar) and Regina Cox (banjo). Aua Aua Ron featured Bob Murphy (fiddle0, Mike Stapleton (accordion), Cathy Murray (triangle), David Massey (guitar), and Mary Alice Turpin (bass). The Makley Family were from Jacksonville. The New Sand mountain Wildcats featured Ernie Williams (banjo), Tim Higgins (fiddle) Dennis Devine (guitar), Robert Levine (bass), Darryln Cauditt (mouth harp)m and Rochelle Morris (tambourine).
