Interview with jazz and blues trumpet player James Franklin Davis

Two reel to reels. Davis discusses his father and mother's occupations; starting to play music when he was eleven; learning to play the piano from a private teacher as a youth; learning to play the trumpet and playing the trumpet in a junior high school band; performing in Ray Shep's Band; and playing at Navy bases, country clubs, school benefits, colleges, and nightclubs like the Royal Entertainers Band. Further, he devotes a great deal of discussion to playing with Ida Goodson, talking about how the style of music he plays has changed; talks about Jimmy Cox, Hal Andrews, and other prominent blues musicians; and discusses synchronizing with other musicians in performances and performances techniques. Copied onto audiocassettes C83-47 and C83-48.
