The Dade Folk Arts Survey was conducted in 1986 by folklorists Tina Bucuvalas, Nancy Nusz and Laurie Sommers in order to identify folk arts and folk artists for the special folklife area at the 34th Annual Florida Folk Festival. Description
Two audio cassette recordings. Jaime Bronsztein and James Kelly discuss their respective musical traditions (klezmer and Irish); how they are played; specific tunes such as the Hava Nagila (Yiddish) and O'Carolan's Concerto (Irish). They also discuss their family backgrounds, careers and George Phillips. They attempt to play an Irish-Israeli version of the Hava Nagila. Because this was the 40th festival, the Crossroads area was partly devoted to performers who contributed to the festival's past and development.
