One reel to reel recording. Fishing Industry workshop: Folklorist Taylor interviewed the fishers (Filman, Herrin, Bennett) about the occupation and training, and the issue involved. Filman was from Steinhatchee, Herrin was from Mayport, and Bennett was from Welaka. Net making workshop: Folklorist Taylor interviewed the net makers (Smith, Buzier, Mora) about their occupation and training, and how to make nets. Mora was from Cortez, Smith from Port St. Joe, and Buzier was from Apalachicola. The folklife area in 1987 focused on Maritime folklife, which stemmed from Taylor's work on the 1986 Maritime Heritage Project, and cooperative project between the FFP and the Library of Congress.

One reel to reel recording. McDonald served as emcee. Stemming from the research on the St. Johns River Survey, this workshop focused on commerical fishing. Bennet (of Welaka) discussed cypress boats; Oxendine discussed hoop nets; Knowles (of Crescent City) talked about crab traps; and the Schmidts discussed net making and shad fishing. They all also discussed the pros and cons of commerical fishing. The workshop continued on T85-121.

Traditions Within Fishing Families workshop: Folklorist Taylor interviewed the fishers and their spouses about how the fishing traditions affect their family life; cooking and other traditions; education; growing in a fishing family; and the future of the industry. Two married coupls made up the panel: the Taylor from Bradenton, and the Bennetts from Crescent City. The folklife area in 1987 focused on Maritime folklife, which stemmed from Taylor's work on the 1986 Maritime Heritage Project, and cooperative project between the FFP and the Library of Congress.
