Description
One audio cassette recordings. Father Nikodim Priobjan of the Serbian Orthodox Church along with Zora Russell, Mary Jane Allegro and John Palmos are interviewed by Laurie Sommers. Father Pribojan discusses the Orthodox liturgical chants and describes their history and origin, when they are used and how they are sung. He and the others chant several pieces. The named ones include "Christ Has Risen"; "Blessed is the Man..."; "O Ye Holy Martyrs". He also describes the difficulty of writing the notes to chants and talks about apprenticeship in chanting.
