Description
One audio cassette. The Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program began in 1983 with a NEA grant of $22,000. The program provided an opportunity for master folk artists to share technical skills and cultural knowledge with apprentices in order to keep the tradition alive. Apprentices must have had some experience in the tradition and agreed to train for at least six months. The first project director was Blanton Owen, later replaced by first folklorist Peter Roller, then folklorist Robert Stone. The program was continued each year through 2004.

Literally a Celebration of Lots, it is a joyous time celebrating fun and happiness. Each year at the Florida Folk Festival, the Florida Folklife Program emphasized a particular culture, tradtions, or geographic area. In 1990, they emphasized celebrations of various Florida groups. including Haitians, Trinidadians, Greeks, and Jewish peoples.

Description
16 audio cassette recordings. Storytellers spoke between 10:00am and 5pm at the Storytelling Tent. (The Storytelling Auditorium area, which featured some of the same storytellers, was not recorded.) Wiseman, Spitzer, and Newsom served as the emcees. Several of the storytellers also sang songs. Mutima played the drums and kora during his stories; and Harshbarger used finger puppets to aid hers.

Description
Two proof sheets with 72 black and white images (plus negatives). Hollis was born in Pleham, Georgia in 1908. After a brief period singing blues in Tennessee, he began organing and promoting gospel quartets in Florida in the 1920s. His home became the 'Hollis Hotel', a palce where gospel groups often stayed. In the emantime, he also worked as a cook. He remained active in gospel msuic throughout is life. He won the 1994 Florida Folk Heritage Award posthumously.
