Four audio cassettes. Recording of a story on the 1976 Florida Folk Festival by Jacksonville's public radio station, WJCT-FM 90. Includes an award given to Thelma Boltin, discussion of late festival performer Bob Beers, Scottish songs, explanation of Sacred Harp Singing, stories and songs by Gamble Rogers, interviews with Al Head, Rogers, and Boltin, and various performances from the festival.

Description
This recording contains excerpts from T77-97 and T77-105. Emcee Thelma Boltin introduces Navarro, a Filipino student from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Navarro describes tinikling, a traditional colonial era Philippine dance which involves two people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles on the ground and against each other in coordination with one or more dancers who step over and in between the poles in a manner similar to the tikling bird, a type of rail. Moncall and Castañeo beat bamboo while Navarro dances.

One audio cassette. Recording of Skipper Lockett performing his popular Rainbow Springs boat tour on the main stage of the Florida Folk Festival. Lockett was a long-time boat driver at the springs (today a Florida State Park), and gave his rhyming tour -- during which he explains the springs and names all of its fishes -- at several festivals in the 1950s and 1960s. The original recording from which this cassette was made is T77-83: Recording of the Saturday Morning Program at the 1959 Florida Folk Festival.

One audio cassette. NOTE: Because this was a copyrighted recording, no copies of the recordings will be made. Recording of the 1972 White Springs Bluegrass Festival, which was actually an impromptu bluegrass performance at the Florida Folk Festival's campground. The recording marked the first professionally-released recording of the Florida Folk Festival, even though it consisted of unofficial performances. Recorded and mixed by Blair Mooney, Studio 70, Tampa, Florida and produced and directed by Ben Brown and Peter Leonardi. Released by Kaloosa Record Company in Tampa.

Masters discusses the parts of cast nets, demonstrates how to cast a net, his strangest catches; and other topics.
