Description
One reel to reel recording. Boltin served as emcee. Rain lived in Gainesville. Smith was from Fort Myers. Daniels and Webb were both from Jacksonville. Once called the 'Woody Guthrie of Vietnam,' Pham Duy wrote over 1000 songs. Born in Ha Noi in 1921, he trained in Paris in the 1940s. A part of the anti-French resistance, Pham Duy traveled Vietnam learning folk songs, and supporting regime change. In Spring 1966, as part of a cultural exchange program with the US, the 46 year old Saigon resident toured the United States. By the 1980s, Duy resided in California, still writing and performing. An image of him can be found in S 1578, box 3, folder 36.

Banjoist Cox was from Grand Haven, Michigan. Banjoist Taylor was from Milledgeville, Georgia, and played with The Folk Swingers. He later played with Vassar Clements and John Hartford.

This was popular storyteller Tomlin's (of White Springs) last festival. She passed away later the same month.

Description
Sixteen reel to reels. (Reel T77-163 is blank.) For information regarding performers, titles of songs, and other details, see individual reel descriptions. See the festival programs in S 1619 for a listing of activities and performers not recorded. The festival began on Friday (6 May) morning at 10am and ran through Sunday (8 May) afternoon. (The Saturday evening program was not recorded.) Performers usually played sets between one and three songs each. Performances were presented in morning, afternoon, and evening programs. This was the 14th Florida Folk Festival.
