Description
One reel to reel recording. Known as Diamond Teeth Mary for the jewels she placed in her teeth in the 1940s, Mary McClain was born in West Virginia, and always claimed to be the half sister of fellow blues singer Bessie Smith. In 1918, she moved to Florida's Gulf Coast. During her later years, she lived in Bradenton, Florida. Although McClain was a popular performer in the 1920s and 1930s, she stopped performing the blues for many years. She was rediscovered by the Florida Folklife Program in the 1980s. In 1986, she won the Florida Folk Heritage Award. She died on 4 April  2000. Held on the National Mall and sponsored by the Smithsonian Institute, the festival began in 1967. Created by folklorist Ralph Rinzler, the annual festival showcases national folklife, usually focusing on one state each year.

Description
Eight reel to reels. Since the early 1970s, the Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival has been held each year in early November. (Only in 2004, with the damage caused by Hurricane Ivan, was the festival cancelled.) In 1980, the Florida Folklife Program offered a demonstration of the results of their West Florida Folklife Survey. Included were the Vietnamese Dancers of Pensacola (to pre-recorded music), Ida Goodson performing on the piano, Thomley and Godwin perform during a cake walk, and Creek dancers.

Description
Six reel to reel recordings. The convention was founded in 1928, and performs four times a year. Shaped Note singing was an a capella style of church music that utilized shapes to represent notes (fa-so-la-mi) for untrained and even illiterate church members. Only four notes were used in the hymns. An old Anglican practice, English colonists first brought the tradition over to North American in the 1600s. These are field recordings from the Florida Record Project. That project, along with work for the North Florida Project, resulted in the two-album recording, Drop On Down in Florida.

Description
One digital audio tape(DAT). The Versiteers, a Jacksonville-based a capella gospel group, consisted of L.V. Starling, Linda Carter, and Myrtle Butler. Tru-Blu Grass consisted of Bill Hendry (fiddle), Jane Roynl (bass), Eddie Knight (guitar), Jack Piccalo (banjo) and Ken Carey (mandolin).
