Description: Two audio cassettes. Recording of an evening church service, including gospel music, prayers, sermons, Bible readings, and lining out. Much of the signing was accompanied by drums, tambourine, and piano. Several children sang. Often hard to hear due to noise of congregation.

Date: 1960-07-04
Description: One reel to reel recording. The audio quality is poor. Held at Powell Hall because of heavy rains. Boltin emceed the event. Cliff Walden was a radio personality on WGGG in Gainesville. U.S. Rep. Matthews represented the 8th Congressional District from 1953 to 1967. He spoke on patriotism and the need for "states rights" -- but his speech suffers from audio resulting from damage to the reel to reel and is difficult to hear.

Florida Memory is funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida's LSTA program is administered by the Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services.

For FY2022-23, the percentage of total costs for the Florida Memory program financed with federal money is 66%; the federal dollar amount to be spent on the program is $646,422. This program does not receive any non-governmental funding.
