One reel to reel recording. Boltin served as emcee. Dunscombe was from Gainesville, he had been playing the saw for 50 years by 1979, and the festival for 25 years. Called the Musical Carpenter, he was a retired UF professor. Guitarist-singer Bullard was from White Springs. The Travelers were based out of Lake City, the band consisted of Skip (banjo), Claudie (Skip's father; guitar), and Buddy Harvey (Skip's cousin; bass). Buddy taught in Duval County, and Skip and his father owned a TV shop. From Branford, this was Fox's first festival performance. He played since the 1930s. In 1932 on WJBU, he was known as Eddie Fox. The Kellys were from Palatka. From Brooksville, Miller was the daughter of Ed Flemming.

The travelers were from Lake City, and consisted of Buddy Harvey (bass), Claudie Johns (guitar), and Skip Johns (banjo). Weed, of Key West, played the conch shell. Johnson and Wickman were also from St. Augustine. Their set continues on T80-14.

One digital audio tape (DAT). The Florida State Fiddle Contest was held each year at the Festival on Saturdays (the stages varied from year to year). The winners were allowed to perform on the Main Stage that evening. Kogut served as emcee. Winners for the Rustic Division: Dave Horton (first), David Swanson (second) and Charlie Burton (third). For the Contemporary Division: Gabriel Lewis (first), Judd Taylor (second), and Elan Shocker (third). The winners of the Junior Division were Tommy Slaughter (first), Ian Malinowsky (second) and Joshua Headly (third). The winners of the Twin Fiddle Division: Trenda & Tommy Slaughter (First); Ian Malinsowky & Elan Chalford (second) and Sharon McInnis & Sandy McIntire (third).
