The Trivette Family playing bluegrass

Date: 1985-01-28
Description: Six reel to reel recordings. Recording of the Trivette family playing bluegrass in Fred Perry's home in St. Augustine. Players consisted of Frank Trivette Sr. (banjo, fiddle), Frank Trivette Jr. (guitar), Doug Trivette (guitar), Buddy Beck (mandolin) and Carlos Brackett (bass). Images of the performance can be found in S 1577, volume 27. In winter 1985, the Bureau joined with two folklorists to conduct a folk arts survey of the St. Johns River basin in northeastern Florida. The St. Johns River is the largest and most used river in Florida, supporting much river commerce as well as a modest amount of commercial fishing. Folklorists Mary Anne McDonald and Kathleen Figgen conducted the survey from January through March 1985 under the direction of Folklife Coordinator Blanton Owen and Bureau Chief Ormond Loomis. Documentation compiled in the survey was used to prepare and present the "St. Johns River Basin Folklife Area" at the 1985 Florida Folk Festival.

Florida Memory is funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida's LSTA program is administered by the Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services.

For FY2021-22, the percentage of total costs for the Florida Memory program financed with federal money is 66%; the federal dollar amount to be spent on the program is $561,960. This program does not receive any non-governmental funding.
