Physician's journal, 1843
The collection contains Dr. John Davidson's volume of remedies and recipes to cure various illnesses and to treat diseases. The book, dated August 3, 1843, covers treatments for such sicknesses as pneumonia and consumption to recipes for laxatives and expurgants.
John M. W. Davidson was born in 1801 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He came to Quincy, Florida shortly after his marriage to practice medicine. He was a pioneer physician, scholar, and planter, who was a distinguished citizen of Florida until his death in 1879.
