To determine whether there is a cassette tape available, check the reel-to-reel index logs in Series S1579, Indexes and Accession Registers to the Audio Tapes, Video Tapes, Photos, and Slides in the Florida Folklife Archive, for the reel-to-reel tape in question to see if there is a cross-reference to a cassette tape number. This series consists of negatives, photographs, and slides (both black and white and color) produced or collected by the Bureau of Florida Folklife Programs and the Florida Folklife Archive. The photographs depict folklife festivals and events such as the annual Florida Folklife Festival; artisans and craftsmen, such as quilters, carvers, and weavers, and their work; performances of folk dancers and musicians; educational and cultural programs sponsored by the Bureau of Florida Folklife Programs; various ethnic groups and their art, including the Seminole Indians; persons employed in traditional Florida industries such as shrimping and turpentining; and Florida architecture.
In addition to the box and folder list available in the online catalog, the Archives holds a subject index to the photographs and slides. A detailed listing of subjects in slide volumes 1-69 is also available.
Series S1576, Audio Recordings of Florida Folk Festival Performances and Other Folk Events, contains audio tapes to accompany the slide carousels in this series for slide/tape programs produced by the Bureau of Florida Folklife Programs.
Some of the images in this series appear in various Bureau of Florida Folklife Programs publications such as the annual Florida Folk Festival programs and Folk Arts Apprenticeship brochures.
