Organization/Arrangement: Arranged by format (reel-to-reel tape, cassette tape, digital tape, video tape, and slide), then chronological.
Summary:

This series contains the tape log indexes and the accession registers for the audio tapes, video tapes, photographs and slides for the Florida Folklife Archives from 1935 to 1995 (through 2001 for Florida Folk Festival audio recordings).  The materials referenced in these recordings date back to the Works Progress Administration (WPA) recordings made in the 1930's and include recordings from most if not all of the Florida Folklife Festivals since 1954.

The indexed audio tapes consist of reel-to-reel, cassette, and digital tapes and are indexed by format and year accessioned (T-year for reel-to-reel, C-year for cassette, D-year for digital).  Also indexed are the video tapes (V-year).

The index sheets list the tape or accession number, the collector (person, group or organization collecting the material), the informant (the performer(s) or person(s) being interviewed), date and place of recording, and specific equipment used.  The bottom half of the sheet is divided into three columns headed: Time (Foot), Superscore; Place Names, Proper Names, Extraneous Noises, Etc.; and, Subjects Discussed.  These list the length of performances or interviews recorded, who or what was being recorded, and the material being recorded (songs, stories, interview subject).

The accession registers cover the above indexed materials as well as photographs (P-year), slides (S-year), media or 16mm film (Media-year), periodicals (PER-year), phonographic records (PR-year), and photographs (P-year).

Also included are completed Tape Worksheet files.  These forms contain much of the same information included on the index sheets, except they also list the subject under which the material from the tapes are cataloged and the person cataloging the materials for the Folklife Archive.
