Dr. Groover moved to Lakeland from Fort White in 1898 and practiced medicine until his death in 1930.
He is also the father of Morgan Groover, Mary Groover Holland of Bartow, and Sue Ella Groover Skipper of Lakeland.
The horse was "Black Beauty".
