At the controls of the first DC-6B on its maiden flight from Santa Monica, California, to join the national fleet in Miami, were Capt. L. J. Skeeter Royall and Capt. Lewis Dymond, operations manager (first and second from left) The flight engineer was George Cunningham (not shown). Director of maintenance Adolph Liska (not shown) accompanied the flight, after supervising final stages of construction at the Douglas aircraft plant. On hand to greet them were (center to right) Walter Sternberg, vice president-sales; R. P. Foreman, secretary; and Capt. E. J. Kershaw, vice president-operations.
